Scrutiny Panel Online Recruitment Review - Next Steps

This survey is now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part.

In February and March 2026, Platform's Scrutiny Panel and customer volunteers reviewed how Platform promotes and recruits customer engagement through its website, social media channels, and Platform Voices, to identify improvements to encourage a wider and more diverse range of customers to get involved.

The objectives of the project were to;

  • Review the quality, clarity and accessibility of information about customer involvement available online.
  • Assess how effectively Platform’s website, social media and Platform Voices promote opportunities and signpost customers to the right routes into involvement.
  • Understand customer motivations, barriers and preferred ways of engaging through customer workshops.
  • Identify improvements to content and signposting that will support proactive recruitment and sustained engagement.

As part of that review, customers shared some valuable suggestions on how we could improve the way we communicate with customers online.

Three recommendations noted in the ACTION PLAN were to: ‘Rewrite and redesign the ‘Get Involved’ pages of the website and Platform Voices – simplify all text, remove jargon, replace job-style language’

Please see attached document ‘Get Involved text translation examples’ that gives 5 examples of text either on the Platform Housing Group ‘Get Involved’ web page or documents linked from that webpage.

Each example was firstly put through Microsoft Copilot requesting the existing text was translated into language suitable for a UK 11-year-old reading age (NB. The average reading age of adults in the UK is 9 to 11 years old). That translated text was then cross referenced with an online Flesch-Kincaid calculator.

The Flesch-Kincaid grade level index evaluates text readability to indicate how difficult a piece of text is to read. Using the grade level index, the lower the score is, the easier the text is to read.

Customers also told us that they’d like to see some short explainer videos on our social media channels. We’ve drafted a sample video to give you an idea of what one could look like and to check that it meets customer expectations. We’d really appreciate your feedback on the content, style and format so we can make sure any future videos are useful, engaging and tailored to what customers are looking for.

The closing date for this survey is 31st July 2026. To thank you for your time giving us your feedback we will be offering a £10.00 reward to all customers who fully complete the survey.

To participate in this survey and receive rewards, you must be a Platform customer.
